Sponsorship

Sponsorship: One of the fundamental truths that we have discovered in our program is that we can not find recovery alone.  A sponsor is a person in the fellowship who acts as a guide to working the program of SAA, a fellow addict that you can rely upon for support.  Ideally, a sponsor is abstinent from addictive sexual behavior, has worked the steps, and can teach you what he or she has learned from the program.  Most importantly, sponsors guide us through the twelve steps and tools of the program.

If you are not ready to ask someone to sponsor you, you can either:

a. Get phone numbers and tell people you will call.
b. Give your number to people you want to talk to or like to listen to.
c. Ask someone to be a temporary sponsor.  You can have one or more person you call to ask about the program or to share your feelings and progress with.
